The Friends of the Alfred H. Baumann Free Public Library, otherwise known as FAB, is hosting a Casino Night fundraiser on “lucky” Friday, March 13 at The Brownstone. All proceeds from this event will go to the library construction project. Last year, over 200 people attended the event to reveal the first renderings of the library renovation and expansion project. The evening was attended by community groups, members from local organizations and businesses, residents, library patrons, and town officials.
“The evening was simply magical,” stated FAB president Lynda Hade. “Everyone requested that we do it again in 2020.” Additionally, the 50/50 winner was chosen and went home with over $4,000. FAB is hoping that even more people will come out this year for this fun event. The library is currently in the process of applying for the New Jersey Construction Bond Grant which is due on April 6. Should the library be a recipient of the grant, they will receive a one-to-one match on the construction cost of the project.
The Alfred H. Baumann Public Library has not had any major renovations or expansions in the 40 years it has been at its current location and is in dire need of updates, rehabilitation, barrier free improvements, and more space. “Although we will have continuing opportunities for fundraising, this event sponsored by the Friends will help us meet our goals for the grant application,” stated Library Director Linda Hoffman.
Tickets are available at the library for $100 and include $100 in starter casino money, a DJ for dancing, high end prizes, passed hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner, dessert bar, beer, wine, soda, coffee and tea. Joanne Hirkaler, FAB fundraising chair, said, “We can guarantee that you will leave saying 'Wow! That was a great event!'”
